Passion of the Fruit...

Mon Oct 12, 2009, 11:38 PM
Long overdue. But I've finally started my business. I just got business license, but there is still a long way to go. I've signed up with a non profit called SCORE composed of retired executives who offer their time to give back and mentor fresh entrepreneurs like myself. They also offer many workshops that help me become more familiar with the resources available as well as how to manage and grow my business.

I'm still hacking away at my business plan. It's like slaying a monster. I'm having to do a lot of research on marketing and referencing database on all the local competition and reading a lot of books on industry specifics. It's really about figuring out who "I" really am as a business and how I can contribute to the industry.

And at the same time I'm hacking away at my site while maintaining steady business to keep afloat. I'm breaking even every month. I guess I could say that I'm lucky to even be breaking even at this point of establishing a new business. Because most new businesses are in debt. I can operate relatively low cost because I don't require a space to lease and renovate or inventory to buy or employees to pay. I've got some still (school loans & car payments and living expenses). I've already invested into my equipment and more importantly have becomes quite proficient in wielding my tools. All that's left to do is to organize so that I can do more of what I love to do.

Daisy my fiance is helping me as a phantom partner. I feel a little more at ease going into this with some support. It would be very overwhelming for me to do this alone. So I'm thankful for that.

I'm expecting to officially launch by the beginning of next year.

I really admire your photography - especially your whole Chinese photojournalism-set. I really like the spontaneous slice of life photos best. I am actually surprised you do not have more views, because your stuff looks very professional! (Not that I am a photo-pro or anything. TuT; )
